Night Shadows
Hats off to daytime art and the viewer
nude before all creation looking into
the rectangle that bounds the art.
Light from sliver moon and stars
casts images aground. And rooms
enfold us in pre-defined spots.
Attention fastened at eye level spans
elsewhere the viewer would rather be,
unlike the large bird instinctively drawn
to the source of light dangling from the ceiling.
Or is it a microphone prepared to
deploy a song as yet unheard?
